Law Courts Visit

Law court visit

A group of 20 Year 12 law students from Reepham College visited Norwich Crown and Magistrate Courts on a very cold and frosty winter morning to watch court proceedings to see in action what they had learnt about in the classroom.

In the morning the group was split into two, and half the group went to the Crown Court to see a key witness giving evidence in a manslaughter case. The other group went to the Magistrates courts to see a wide variety of different cases involving theft, drink driving offences and fines for non-school attendance. The groups then changed over after lunch.

The students are part way through studying topics of the English Legal System and Law Making and this was a fantastic opportunity to see first hand how the courts work and the roles of judges, magistrates, solicitors, and barristers as well as the many other roles involved in the running of courts such as court clerks, parole officers and legal experts. It proved to be an eye opening and interesting visit and all the students impressed with their smart dress and mature attitude.
